Focus, Focus, Focus!

Wow! Every time I turn around lately I talk to someone or see a situation unfolding where the answer is focus, and the question is usually, “How do I get to that place of being focused?” Or maybe I’m seeing this because I’ve witnessed clarity and focus, over and over, being the answer to a majority of the struggle and confusion most entrepreneurs are facing today.

This can show up in your life in two different ways.

1. The amount of information overload is escalating daily with it becoming easier and easier to be connected. Now it’s not just emails you get on your phone, it’s videos, social media and even live TV, news and sports.

Are you feeling like you don’t have the choice to turn any of it off or you’ll be left behind?

Do other people in your life expect you to be on call 24/7 and fulfill their needs immediately no matter where you are or what you’re doing?

If so, that can create an incredible amount of pressure for one thing. And on another level it leads to splitting your attention to such an extent that it’s almost impossible to fully focus on any one thing for a long enough period of time to get anything substantial accomplished.

So what can you do?

Well, you could change the way you respond to those requests for your time and energy by setting boundaries around when you will reply and when you won’t. You’d be surprised how fast you can re-train people to respect those boundaries, even your worst offenders.

2. Another way that we sabotage our own focus is by taking on too many things at one time. It can be tasks to complete, things you feel like you need to learn, books you read or even filling your social calendar to the point of exhaustion.

Being clear on who you are, what you’re here to do and what you’re going to do about that in terms of creating a blueprint for your life allows you to have a plan that all of these things we’ve been discussing gets measured against.

With your blueprint you have a plan that can be broken down into daily actions that are moving you forward to your desired end result, which is living the life of your dreams funded by a business that truly is your calling.

That blueprint helps you to say no and it helps you to know what to say yes to. It helps you to structure your time because you know what you want to accomplish and when you want it done. You are then free to choose how you spend the rest of your day and the rest of your life.

Your blueprint isn’t just a tool for productivity, it’s the out-picturing of your deepest desires. It’s the framework from which your soul expresses itself in your daily life.

It’s the foundation for everything you are and everything you create and hope to be in the future. What could be more important than that?

If you need some assistance in creating the blueprint for your life, I’m here to help.

Can You Have Your Attention, Please?

Yes, you read that right. I’m asking you to give yourself your attention.

Attention is a tricky thing.

Your attention can drift off without you even being consciously aware when you’re not really interested in something.

You can pay attention to varying degrees depending on your involvement.

You can even pay attention to the wrong things altogether!

Or you can focus your attention with great intensity and produce tremendous results with possibly less effort than you expend in any of those other levels of attention I just pointed out.

What is the effect of scattered attention?

Scattered attention is how most people spend the majority of their time. It leads to overwhelm. It leads to lack of clarity, otherwise known as confusion. And it definitely results in a lack of focus.

The power of focused attention should not be underestimated. Just look at what a kid with a magnifying glass can do with a simple piece of paper and a little help from the sun. Did you ever do that experiment when you were a kid, burning a hole in a piece of paper?

As a child you may have been amazed that it was possible considering you were also out there in that same sun and yet it didn’t burn a hole through you or the piece of paper sitting right next to the one you just burnt a hole in.

I’m sure your science teacher explained that it’s all about harnessing the power of the sun by focusing it’s rays through the magnifying glass.

Well it works the same way with your thoughts.

When your thoughts and your energy are scatter, over here one minute and over there the next, there is no power. Your actions may seems to form a pattern of activity that looks productive, but in terms of a big picture they are random and leading nowhere.

The best use of your attention is not on multi-tasking either.

Despite popular opinion to the contrary, it is apparent to almost anyone you speak to on the phone when you’re multi-tasking. And there have been plenty of studies that show you have diminished capacity in all the task you do when you multi-task-no matter how proud you may be of your ability to do it.

Here’s the bottom line…

You have the power to have anything you want in your life by using that same power of focused energy as the kid with the magnifying glass. Your brain is already set up to work this way and your sub-conscious has been waiting for you to get it together and figure out what you really want it to do for you!

By getting clear about who you really are, what you’re here to do and what you choose to do about it, you have the ability to create a blueprint for your life. The most amazing life you are capable of dreaming of right now today.

You may need a little help pulling it all together. If so, I’d be glad to help you, that’s what I do.

Until next week, I’d love to hear your thoughts.  Just comment on this post on my blog.

What You Think Is What You Get – For Now

Your life is all about you, nobody else. Don’t forget this…and no it’s not selfish.

I was watching something on TV recently that brought this point home in a very clear. I don’t remember the show, but the woman said, “Why can’t you just put yourself in my shoes for a while?” and the man said, “If I did, who would be in my shoes?”.

This is true for many people who are permanently stuck in someone else’s shoes and never wearing their own. They don’t have any idea what they really would want for themselves if they ever felt like they had a right to consider it.

So what you think, and therefore what you get, is what someone else thinks would be best for you from their point of view-not yours.

Another trap you can frequently fall into is looking at what someone else has done, what they have or who they appear to be and comparing yourself to them. It takes a conscious commitment to stop doing this and to allow yourself to follow your own path on your own time table.

As you create your own life blueprint and open a space for direct communication with/from your higher self this habit of comparing falls away to a great extent on it’s own.

Last weekend during the Blueprints for Life event in San Diego one of the attendees asked if something was “right”. It really can be very difficult to not ask that question. So you want to re-train yourself to answer your own question by remembering that the only thing that matters is if it’s right for you.

I had brought a vase full of beautiful roses to the event so we could have flowers with us in the room and on the second day as I looked at the roses I noticed that some were already bloomed fully. Some were still tightly closed and some were in various stages of unfolding. So I asked, “Which one is right?”

In the terms we normally use to judge situations or accomplishments, there would be a pre-concieved notion of what would be the expected look of a rose on day 2. And yet they were all beautiful and following their own path, their own time table for unfolding and exposing their beauty.

So after accepting that none of them were wrong, someone said, “It’s also possible that some of those who aren’t opening yet could die without ever opening.” Which is also true, as it is for many people.

An example of this from my own life is how I feel about where I live at the beach.

About 5 years ago I moved from Sonoma to 5 minutes from where I live now. I chose to move here and yet I didn’t really enjoy my time here. I compared the temperature unfavorably to other warmer beach locations I had lived. I compared the color of the water and the quality of the beach in the same way.

Consequently, as much as I tried to be fully present and embrace this place, I was only about 70% happy with it. So I left.

Last summer, after the disappointment of the real estate deal on Maui falling apart at the last minute, I had to decide on a new place to move to. It didn’t feel like Maui was the best place for me right then.

So where do I go after I decide I’m not going to the place that to me is one of the most perfect places on earth? God has a sense of humor and I was led back to the same place I had left a few years earlier. I was less than thrilled, but felt directed to be here, so I came.

Interestingly, my level of happiness with this place today is 100%. If someone told me I had to live here forever, I’d be fine with that. Quite a switch from last time or even from when I came here “to make do” until I figured out if I was still going to Maui.

You may find this hard to believe, but the weather has been amazing, in fact it’s seldom rained or been cold when I’m in town. The beach becomes more beautiful to me every day and the color of the water and the appearance of the surf is so interesting to me, I just love it. And there are days that I would swear I was on Maui if I didn’t know better, the ocean looks so similar.

So am I losing my mind? Am I kidding myself? I don’t think so. I think it’s a great example of when I change my thoughts, what I see changes and that in turn instills new beliefs that continue to change my thoughts…and so on and so on.

Two steps if you don’t like the result you are currently getting from what you think.

#1 Have an awareness of what you spend your day thinking about

#2 Create an awareness of the physical manifestation your thoughts lead to for you

This is a simple way for you to shift what you think about and what you get.

Until next week, I’d love to hear your thoughts.  Just comment on this post on my blog.

What’s New
Our live Blueprints for Life closed door intensive starts tomorrow in San Diego so I’ll be heading down to my suite at the waterfront resort this afternoon. I’m so excited for the women who are attending because I know their lives never be the same after these three days.

There is no feeling like walking back in your front door after the weekend knowing you are not the person who left the house just a few days before and feeling that empowerment in every fiber of your being.

It’s so humbling for me to witness the transformations that occur when a student is open and ready for a shift in their life and/or in their business. It takes a brave person to show up and say I’m ready to step more fully into my power, show up in the world as my authentic self and tell my truth.

For most of us that’s a huge leap to take, so I’m really looking forward to meeting the amazing women who are about to take this journey.

Speaking of that, if you aren’t joining us live and haven’t registered to listen to the 4 Blueprints for Life teleseminars on replay go to:

http://LynnPierce.com/ebff.html

I’m also just back from another Scottsdale/Maui/Scottsdale trip. I escaped the cold and rainy weather in Scottsdale and San Diego during the week I spent on Maui. I’m beginning to think I have weather ESP. It’s been a great winter of nothing but warm weather everywhere I go.

The week on Maui started with a relaxing weekend, another fabulous day at the Grand Wailea Spa and then a day of snorkeling with our mastermind before settling down to some serious work. I had a couple aha moments about my own business and you’ll be hearing more about that next week.

For a very small number of you I will be extending an invitation to spend some personal time with me and have a lot of fun doing what I enjoy most, but I can’t tell you any more yet. But if my life sounds fun to you, stay tuned.

The reason there was no ezine last week was because I actually sit down on Thursday morning and write from whatever inspiration strikes me at the moment. Last week while on Maui I made the decision to not get online, so there was no ezine.

Life happens, be ready for it. Click on the link below and get started creating a vision for your life, a plan for your future, your Blueprint for Life.

Set your goals high enough that they require you to stretch your comfort zone and you’ll be amazed what you can achieve. Ask yourself, “What’s the one thing I can change this year to create the life of my dreams?”

Remember to join the conversation on my blog where you’ll also find each week’s ezine posted for your comments.

Our Final Blueprints for Life Call

Thursday will be our final call before the live event in San Diego Feb. 20-22nd. When you register for this call you will also receive the replay links for the first 3.

http://LynnPierce.com/ebff.html

People often ask me how to keep looking forward and maintain a great feeling about their dream and not be distracted by where they are now.

Three simple steps in this question are the key to your success in anything you do.

If you don’t have the clarity of a laser focused dream followed up by a solid step by step process that allows you to focus on exactly how you’re going to make it a reality, it will most likely never happen. You need to be on this call if you want to get a different result in your life than the one you’re getting now.

I’ll break it down for you on Thursday’s call. I’ll also be answering your questions submitted using the link in your call welcome email.
