How to Live Like a Millionaire Before You Are One

Popular belief is that you need to make big money first and then that allows you to buy the great lifestyle. And, of course, lots of money buys lots of things.

But, it’s equally true that by consciously designing your life before you have all that cash, you can start living large right now. One of the reasons this is possible is because there are several factors to creating your ideal lifestyle, beyond money, that you have influence over right now where you are today.

For more than 30 years I have been consciously creating the blueprint for my life and helping others do the same. Over that long period of time the economics of my life have shifted from time to time, like most people’s have.

The one thing that has been consistent is my lifestyle. There were times, like 1981 when I lived in Ft. Myers, FL and the real estate economy tanked. All the real estate sales I had pending collapsed and so did my income. And yet event though I wasn’t working for a few months I was going to Long Boat Key in Sarasota, staying at a luxury resort and drinking Dom Perignon at the Long Boat Key Club most nights.

And I was 25 years old! I’m not telling you this to brag, I want to make a point.

You’ve Got What You Asked For

These days so many people in our society are unhappy. They are dissatisfied with their job, their financial situation, their love life, their body; some would say all of the above!

Do you know the saying “wherever you go, there you are”? Even though you always take yourself wherever you go you do have a choice of who you’ll be when you get there.

Here’s something to think about.

If you don’t realize you are doing exactly what you want to be doing in each moment or you would be doing something else, then you are not being honest with yourself.

Because you have received in your life exactly what your thoughts have focused on, meaning-you’ve got what you asked for.

I can hear you getting mad at me right now and arguing that you would never wish for whatever the situation is you’re unhappy with right now.

You may think you don’t want to work where you work or be in the relationship you’re in etc., but if that were really true you would be doing something to change the situation. There is always another choice if you want to look for it. The reality is it’s easier to have things remain the same.

Ouch!

The simple fact is that sometimes the devil you know is better than the promise of this ethereal success and happiness you can’t quite put your finger on…or at least that’s what your ego mind would like you to believe so you stay right where you are in life.

But you’re not going to let your ego fool you like that, are you?

Your brain is always processing information and making choices sub-consciously. This is true with simple things like which hand to use to pick something up or which way to turn all the way up to the most complicated processes.

You use the same process to decide how to spend your time. Change the criteria your brain uses to make decisions and you’ll change the choices you make. Your personal manifesto and the plan you create from your goals, along with the blueprint for life you’ve created, will give your brain the input it needs to change your processing criteria.

What are the criteria you use to make your choices?

Have you ever thought about it before? It goes back to looking at who you see yourself as and what you told yourself about your life up until this point. Once you have that information, you can look at what is true and work towards what you want to achieve. Eliminate or replace everything else.

It’s like spring-cleaning your living space and then going up into the attic and going through all the stuff you didn’t even remember you had. Some of the stuff you realize you want to bring out and use. Other things you throw away because you don’t want them anymore. Now do the same spring-cleaning with your mind.

Action Step:
Spring Clean your Mind

One area I did a major spring-cleaning in several years ago that made a significant difference in my life was my image of my worthiness as a friend.

When I went up into the attic of my brain, the stuff I found there was really old. I had been judging myself by criteria a child had set up! How ridiculous is that?

So I looked at every piece of information and where it started. Does it fit who I am today or is this not true about me?

What I noticed was that I had taken the facts of my life and came to some erroneous conclusions. The facts were that I only had one friend at a time when I was young, I was ill a lot as a child and missed school, and because I grew up moving quite often, I was always the new kid. You get the picture.

I took these facts, let my 7 year old brain draw the conclusions and somehow decided I wasn’t meant to have friends, I wasn’t worthy of people liking me, and it didn’t pay to have friends anyway because I was always moving. So for the next 20 years or so, I lived with this as my criteria I filtered everything through to make decisions about friendship.

There were some good things I uncovered in the attic when I took a look at what was really true about me.

People thought I was funny and fun to be around. So I brought out the fun and funny part of me. I also found I had buried the fact that people thought I was interesting and they enjoyed talking to me and getting my advice. So I dusted that off and brought it out.

When I finished my spring–cleaning, I had released a lot of old misinformation about myself. I swept out the attic and took the parts I liked and brought them downstairs to be a part of who I was. Everything else I threw away. That allowed me to be a good friend and let people into my life.

I now remembered the truth about me. I am funny and fun to be with. I am interesting and people like spending time with me. This spring-cleaning cleared the path for me to develop some great and long lasting friendships that have gone far beyond me living in the same state or even the same country where we became friends. I no longer was operating with outdated criteria for deciding who I am.

You can use this process to redefine any area of your life that isn’t at the level you would like it to be. You can actually picture yourself going up into your attic and looking at any aspect of your life. When you do this, all your core beliefs about this part of yourself will become clear.

Action Step:
Study Successful People

Study other successful people and see what choices they made to get where they are today. When you choose a mentor, really follow them. Read what they write, listen to their calls, buy their products, attend their live events and sign up for their mentoring groups.

Don’t take this lightly. If you want to grow and expand in your life and your business you must seriously follow in the foot steps of your mentors.

Pay attention to the choices they had in their life and how they decided which path to take. As you read and gain more knowledge, think about what you would do to get to the same place even faster. Ask for help.

One of the choices I would recommend you make is to have balance in your life. It makes all of your other choices clearer. Balance is what makes your life work. I’m not talking in terms of scales being balanced, I’m talking about alignment. Your personal balance that feels right to you.

You can live with your life severely out of alignment, but you won’t be happy. Your successes will seem strangely unfulfilling, and you won’t know why. It’s totally up to you what you choose to have in your life. Choose wisely. And, ask for help when you need it. I’m here for you!

Until next week, I’d love to hear your thoughts.  Just comment on this post on my blog.

If you would like personal mentoring, send me an email detailing what you would like help with.  As your mentor I hold a bigger vision for you than you hold for yourself.  When you have faith and a team that believes in you, it gives you courage.  When you don’t have to do it all yourself, all things are possible for you.  Commit today to go for your dream 100%.

The Day Breast Cancer Changed My Life

I don’t quite know where to begin this one, especially to keep it short enough that you’ll read it. And I think this is important to read.

So here we go:

It was a day much like today, warm and sunny. Just another beautiful day like all the others in Cabo San Lucas. I’d been living there for almost 6 years and today I was going for my first mammogram.

Because I thought it would be no big deal, hey I was only 43, I decided to go to a local doctor rather than my regular one two and a half hours away.

Well, it did turn out to be a big deal as I was diagnosed with breast cancer. But as I quickly realized I didn’t react in the way that the majority of women I’ve known in the same situation have.

I didn’t cry, I panicked just a little bit, mostly about how I was going to break the news to my husband.

But for me, the moment that’s burned into my mind isn’t the one where they said those dreaded words, it’s the one where I came out into the light of day into a completely different world than I had left a little over an hour before.

It was surreal to say the least, but the most important point that I wanted to clearly get across to my husband was that I was pretty sure this was an awakening, not a death sentence. There was something big that had been building inside me for quite a while.

I knew there was a shift coming. A spiritual friend of mine told me months before that she saw a big test coming for me. I figured this must be it and I was going to do whatever I needed to do to get the message I was being sent and do what I was to do as quickly as possible.

How I become cancer free in a short period of time without surgery is a whole other story. But what made me think of this experience on this particular morning was that I have that feeling again.

I have that feeling of being on the brink of a major shift in my life. For some people who don’t embrace change, it’s terrifying. For me it’s electrifying.

When this happened 9 years ago it meant ending a 25 year career, leaving the place I thought I was going to stay forever and moving to a city in the desert when I’m an ocean resort person.

But I went on faith where I felt directed to go. And this life that I have now being able to communicate like this with you and helping thousands of others to change their lives came out of that moment when I walked out of the doctors office and chose a different path.

It makes me want to cry just thinking of the magnificence of how life unfolds in ways that are wonderful and yet unpredictable.

That shifted every part of my life. And it was all good. No I didn’t have a clue what I was going to be doing for a living. I didn’t have any idea what any part of my life was going to look like, and thank God I had a husband at the time that trusted my intuition and didn’t fight me on this ambiguous picture.

And now it’s happening again. Not the cancer, the feeling. So watch over the next few weeks, because I’m sure I’ll be sharing things with you as they show up. I’m excited to see where my life will go.

But today, I really want you to look at your life and ask yourself if there’s something that could shift for you that potentially could make a huge positive difference, but you’re too afraid to take the chance. And why?

You have to take the leap of faith because if you wait to see for sure, most likely the opportunity will have already gone to someone who wasn’t afraid to act.

“5 Keys to Developing the Courage to Go for Your Dreams”

How do you develop the courage to go for your dreams?

That’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it?  Because if you don’t learn how, it will not only cost you the millions you could have earned, it will cost you the realization of your passion and your purpose.

It’s a lot of fun planning the vision for your life and the action steps you’re going to take to live your passion.  It’s another thing to keep moving forward as it all starts to become real.  That’s where the fear sets in and you start to wonder what ever made you think you could do this.

Here are 5 keys to developing the courage to go for your dreams:

1. Move Past the Fear

I’m sorry to tell you I haven’t found a magic pill for this. It has to come from inside of you.  Nobody can do it for you.   And it all starts with your vision.

There is so much more to creating a vision for your life than just discovering your passion.  There’s so much more than just writing down some goals.  I would venture to say that you’ve done that before and it wasn’t enough to get you where you want to go.

Fear not!  There’s a system for creating a vision for your life, just as there is a system for anything else you want to be successful at.  The question is whether you will take the time to learn it.

Discovering your purpose was only the first step.  To walk through your fear, you have to be clear on where you are going.

2. Create a Strong Vision

You need a vision that is so strong you can’t possibly walk away from it.

Once you have a strong, compelling vision that’s based on your passion and purpose in life, how could you let anything stop you?

When you know what you want and you’ve visualized it over and over and over until it becomes part of who you are, how could you stop?

When you see yourself in the life you will have upon the realization of you vision, how could you stop?

The answer is, you can’t!  You can’t stop; it’s impossible!  You can drag out the process, but as hard as you try, you can’t stop!

3. Stop Projecting Future Catastrophes

Are you aware that 95% of the things you spend your time worrying about never happen?  So, isn’t worrying about the outcome of things you haven’t done yet ridiculous?

Once you realize you’ve invested so much of yourself into your vision that there’s nothing that’s going to stop you from creating everything you’ve envisioned, what’s the point in letting your fears delay the inevitable?

And it is inevitable.  With the vision you’ve created, you’ve tapped into the Universal Laws and everything you need is being drawn to you as we speak.

You’ve used the law of attraction by being clear on what you want and asking for it.  You’ve used the law of creating a vacuum by clearing out a lot of the things that no longer fit in your life to make space available for something better to show up.  Think about it.

You can run and you can hide, but eventually everything you visualize will come to you if you take all the necessary steps.  So why fight it?  This is what you want more than anything, isn’t it?

Are you crazy?

Why would you spend your time discovering your passion and creating a vision for it if you had no intention of following through?

Are you the kind of person who does things like this for an intellectual exercise?

Well guess what, the joke’s on you.  You’ve created a process you can’t stop.  It will move forward whether you have chickened out or not.  So what’s the point in trying to avoid your future success?

4. Get Out of the Way

When did you want something so bad you could taste it and then decide you were too scared to go for it?

The only courage you need to go for your dreams is the courage to get out of your own way.  Just take a deep breath and move aside.

If you look back over your life, I’m sure you can find many examples when you did just this.

So the next time you feel like your courage to go for your dream has abandoned you, just tell yourself there is no reason to fight it.  Falling into your fears can postpone your success for a while, but you can’t stop it, so why even try.

Get back on that horse and keep riding to the finish line.

5. You’ve Always Had It, Dorothy

The good news is you don’t have to worry about how you’ll develop the courage to go for your dreams.  You already have it.

When you feel like it’s too big for you to go on, look at how far you’ve come already.

The bottom line regarding courage comes from the Wizard of Oz.

Towards the end of the movie, Dorothy thinks she’ll never go home.  Just then Glinda the good witch shows up.  She tells her she’s always had the power to go back to Kansas but she didn’t tell her before because she wouldn’t have believed her.  She had to learn it for herself.

But to find out how to unleash the power she had inside, she needed to ask for help.  Don’t be afraid to ask for what you need.

So my little Dorothy, you’ve always had the power inside you.  All you have to do is have someone show you where it is.  You’re so much stronger than you give yourself credit for.

Get a mentor if you aren’t achieving what you want as fast as you want it.  You may need an outside perspective and a little refocusing. Because when your actions and your purpose are in alignment everything falls into place.  Things just flow.  I can help you get there.

I’d be happy to mentor you to successfully:

* Make your dreams a reality

* Develop specific, targeted goals

* Take action on your goals

* Create a plan that gives you the courage

* Create a simple step-by-step personalized blueprint to follow

If you would like personal mentoring, send me an email detailing what you would like help with.  As your mentor I hold a bigger vision for you than you hold for yourself.  When you have faith and a team that believes in you, it gives you courage.  When you don’t have to do it all yourself, all things are possible for you.  Commit today to go for your dream 100%.

How to Recover After a Dream Falls Through

Just when I had a tight schedule of interviews and teaching, a big project that I as very emotionally invested in and had been working on for several months in fell apart.

And it all collapsed at the last minute when it appeared that it was a done deal. It was a shock and it was devastating to me personally.

I was emotionally distraught and I had an interview to do in 10 minutes.

I won’t go into details now, but I had 2 choices. I could totally fall apart and go into the ‘why me’ victim mode or I could take what action was available to me to repair the situation. I chose to look for ways to put the project back together if at all possible.

I’ve been working on it for the last week and it’s not something I’m able to fix, and now I’m going through a grieving period for a personal dream that isn’t going to happen right now in the way I had thought.

I have not given up on the dream though.

Now, if I was looking for an excuse to not take action on some of the things on my plate, this would be a perfectly acceptable excuse.

But I am going for my dreams 100% because I’ve created a vision for my life that’s running down the tracks like a runaway train. My life is moving forward because that’s the power of the momentum I’ve set in motion. I’ve created my life so that it’s virtually chicken-out proof unless I move to a far away land and take a vow of silence. (Me, silent?)

Wouldn’t you like to create a vision that strong for your life?
Wouldn’t it be great to have a plan that is virtually self-sabotage proof?

Could you benefit from working with a mentor who gets back up and keeps going when things get tough? If you’d like to work with me personally, email me.

You Take the Good, You Take the Bad…And You Take Responsibility:10 Easy Steps to Successfully Get Where You Want to Go

Sometimes it’s hard to tell when a person is sincerely blocked by a particular situation that once removed would allow them to move forward. I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but I’m finding that in most cases when you remove the block they still do nothing. This is very sad and at the same time, I realize that it is the major contributor to 97% of the wealth in the world being held by 3 % of the people.

Why does this happen?

Let me give you 3 scenarios for lack of follow through:

Before I do, let me just say that these are excuses, not acceptable reasons and you are still responsible for each of these possible choices you make
in your life.

You may not have a clear perspective on where you are mentally and emotionally as far as negative beleif systems you haven’t cleared or not being willing to look at your commitment level to moving forward.

It could be that deep down you really don’t want to do whatever it is you’re not following through on. I’ve done this over and over with Internet marketing programs I’ve bought and events I’ve gone to and even high priced mentoring.

Hey, I never said I was immune to this. But what I found was that I absolutely hated doing it, so I didn’t. And yet, since it’s part of my business, someone has to. It just doesn’t need to be you, I mean me.

Some of this also comes from fear of thinking you are all alone and you have to do it by yourself. If you are sincerely looking you can find help for whatever is blocking you, as deep and dark as you may think it is. You aren’t the only one facing your challenge and you just need to get the proper help to release this block.

Given those situations, if you don’t get clarity in a short time, then you need to look at the solution you’ve chosen. If it doesn’t lead to the results you want let it go, take it as a learning expereince and move on. Don’t try to blame someone else for your choices is the bottom line there.

I do a lot of training courses and live events and there is always something that if it were removed this person or that person could attend or they could succeed. On some occasions I have removed the block once I receive the same request from several people just to see who is real and how is whining.

If someone is sincere in their desire to move forward, they will not only jump on the opportunity once their particular block has been removed, they will follow through to the fullest extent in the course or what they learn at the event.

Many times a person has deluded themselves for so long that they may actually believe they are really ready to move forward when they aren’t, and
probably never will be.

I’m sure I’m not alone when I tell you that most of your potential mentors are more than happy to do what they can to accomodate your needs if you are eager to succeed. Sometimes it’s through more information, preview teleseminars, stretching out multiple payments, having different entry levels to their programs, early bird discount, etc.

But in the end, you are the one who must take action, not only to invest in yourself by buying a course or attending an event, but by taking the information you receive and implementing it. If you think there is something that needs to be added to the course, take responsibility for giving your feedback.

The actual percentage of people who follow through on implementing what they learn is extremely low. This is solely your responsibility.

If you truly are interested in taking responsibility for your life and creating a better life for yourself than the one you have now, there are some very simple steps you can follow.

10 Easy Steps to Successfully Get Where You Want to Go:
1. Clearly assess the reality of where you are now and why

2. Choose the correct path of action for the next logical step for you

3. Find the course or event or mentor that can help you get there

4. Be fully present and engaged during your time with your choice from step 3

5. Do all the work necessary to complete the process of step 3

6. Access your success of how well you were able to complete step 3

7. Ask for more help if you are not clear and needing further clarification

8. Give yourself a reasonable amount of time to gauge your success with this step

9. Repeat step 2-9 until you have achieved your desired result

10. Take your life to a higher level by starting again with step 1

If you would like more information on exactly what it means to take responsibility for your life and the amazing benefits of how this moves your life forward, scroll back to the January 21, 2008 post on this topic.

As always, I’d love to hear your thought about this on my blog.

The Coin Toss: Why You Can’t Decide and What It’s Costing You

In life you have to be decisive. There are consequences no matter what you choose and I hope you realize that even telling yourself you’re not going to make a decision is a decision that has it’s own consequences. Sometimes you don’t know what the ramifications of your action or inaction until you get down the road a ways and can look back while in others situations it is immediately clear.

There were 2 scenes in the movie “No Country for Old Men” that illustrated 2 different outcomes, but not so different in the way they played out. The problem with both of the ‘victims’ in these scenes is that neither one of them wanted to make a decision. One victim didn’t decide and her fate was different than the guy who after much threatening was bullied into making a decision that saved his life.

That’s what it looks like to live from a place of fear.

I can guarantee you that a person who has achieved great success in life or amassed great wealth would have responded quickly. Why? Because they are aware of their surroundings. They pay attention to all the verbal and non-verbal cues when they are having a conversation and they would have made a decision about this stranger who was confronting them with this choice before he ever asked the question.

They also trust their gut, their intuition, their higher self, whatever you want to call paying attention to the Universe.

Part of being an intelligent risk taker is learning to be flexible, resourceful and resilient. To achieve a breakthrough to free yourself from the locks that have up until this point prevented you from reaching the level of success you’d like to have in your life you’ll need to learn how to do what super successful people do. They respond creatively and imaginatively by seeing the big picture.

There’s no guarantee that every decision you make will be the right one, but your judgment gets better with practice and so do your odds of making good decisions for yourself. Successful are also able to bounce back from resistance rather than be broken by it. They think outside the box by being flexible enough to look at other perspectives and options.

Greatness comes from continuing through to the finish in the face of resistance. Flexibility gives you the power to return to your center. Your personal manifesto, which you received a special report on how to create when you signed up for this ezine, keeps you focused on who you are and what your purpose is.

Do you find yourself putting off making decisions that seem scary and you’re not sure how they are going to turn out?Stop it. I’m serious stop it now. Start stepping outside of the box and take a chance.

There are 3 questions to ask yourself:

  1. Ask yourself, “What’s the worst thing that could happen?”
  2. Then ask, “What will I do if it does?”
  3. Lastly, “What’s the est result I could get if I take action now?”

Now you have a plan of action for how you’ll handle it if the worst happens, which it rarely does. But the good part is, now you don’t have to worry about ‘what if” anymore because you have a plan. And most likely you realized that nothing that bad would happen anyway, so go for what you really want. Step up and step out and enjoy the success it brings.

I’ve linked to video clips of both scenes from Youtube.com so you can watch it.

In the first scene the killer, who immediately makes the man nervous, starts asking him simple questions that make him so nervous he wants to close up and run away. Then the killer asks the man to call the toss of the coin at one point in their conversation and the guy is so reluctant to call the coin toss because he needs to know first what he stands to win. You’ll see where it goes from there.

The 2nd scene is with a woman. She tells him he has no cause to harm her. Given the same option of calling the coin, she refuses because she knows what’s going to happen. If she would have made a decision do you think the outcome may have been different?
