3 Signs You are Living From Your Soul

28 year old Danny Gokey lost his wife 4 weeks before his audition for American Idol. His biggest inspiration is still his wife. They talked about him trying out for Idol before she passed away. I can only imagine the inner strength and drive it must have taken for him to keep moving forward toward his dream, their dream for him, such a short time afterward.

And yet he left Milwaukee WI and showed up to audition in Kansas City. As far as I know, he has not elaborated on the story of his wife dying. He simply went about the business of doing what he came there to do. He blew everyone away, not just with his singing, but with who he was.

Nobody had to ask him 20 questions about his life or his wife’s passing to see what kind of man he is. The first time we saw him it was apparent in the way he handled himself. He showed up humble and fully standing in the power of the passion he felt for expressing his gift.

He didn’t have to talk about it and neither do you.

When you are in alignment with your life purpose from the core of your being, from your soul, it shows. It’s a silent power, not something that has to be voiced or forced. It’s who you are and it oozes from your pores.

In my last article I talked about Tiger Woods. If you haven’t read that article, you can find it on my blog at http://YourBreakthroughToSuccess.com/blog

I believe that everything I asked you to look at and model with Tiger also applies to Danny Gokey. It’s true that success leaves clues and so does alignment with your soul.

That’s what Blueprints for Life is all about. The first thing that must be in place for you to live the life of your dreams and create success that can be sustained long term is to discover who you really are and why you are here on a soul level. Then you have a foundation to create the blueprint for your life.

I bet if you interviewed 5 people who know Danny Gokey from various parts of his life, they would all describe who Danny is the same way. They would probably say that Danny is just Danny and what you see is what you get.

That’s the way it is when someone is living from a place of authenticity.

And yes, Danny made it into the top 12 with ease. I would bet on him to be there until he end. And when he sang his way into the top 12 and his friends were in the red room to support him, one held a photo of Danny and his wife. It immediately brought me to tears and reminded me of two things.

First, that there is more happening here for Danny than just the pressure of being on Idol. Secondly, it also reminded me not to lose sight of the big picture of what is really important when an opportunity shows up or when an opportunity slips away.

It takes a brave person with a strong sense of purpose to move forward when adversity or drama or trauma enters your life. And yet, what other choice do you have if you are living on purpose?

So let me ask you, when a hurdle shows up in your life how far are you willing to push yourself to jump it and keep moving forward?

3 Signs You are Living From Your Soul:

1. You know who you really are and this has established the foundation of your life.

2. You know why you’re here and you’re dedicated to stepping fully into your personal
power and showing up 100% in the world.

3. You consciously create your life on a daily basis, doing only what is aligned with #1 &  2 above.

Eye of the Tiger: Part 2

Tiger Woods is about to make his return to the arena of professional golf. To say this is a highly anticipated event would be an understatement.

What does this have to do with you? Follow me for a minute, because it does.

Yesterday I was in a salon in Scottsdale getting my hair done when I overheard a conversation about changing the dates of the FBR Open, a golf tournament that didn’t even change it’s dates when they conflicted with the Super Bowl last year taking place in Phoenix.

So what would make them change the dates? Apparently they want Tiger back and Tiger plays a tournament in Dubai every year at that time. Whether the dates are changed or whether it’s just under discussion right now isn’t the point.

The point is that one athlete has risen to such a point in his performance and the following he has built, not only with his game but who he is as a person, that people who aren’t even golf fans admire him. They follow him and they will go out of their way to see him in person, which means big bucks to sponsors and tournaments alike.

This was not something that Tiger set out to create. This phenomenon grew out of who he is, from the way he was raised to the choices he made from that foundation and the man he has become. He was being who he is, doing what he does best and this was the result.

Tiger is a great example of what I teach in Blueprints for Life.

1. He knows who he really is because of the foundation he’s established for his life.

2. He knows why he’s here and he has dedicated himself to excellence in all areas of his life, not just his profession.

3. He consciously creates his life on a daily basis, doing what is most important to him, not what would look like the best choice from the outside world.

An example of that is his statement that even though he is returning to golf, his first priority is his family time with his wife expecting their second child. He loves what he does but he doesn’t allow it to take over and run his life.

So many entrepreneurs are blocked in this area of how to have a life and live your passion for your business at the highest level. It’s not hard to do if you have a blueprint for your life. Tiger is  great example of what that looks like when you do it well.

In the “Eye of the Tiger” article you can find on http://YourBreakthroughToSuccess.com/blog posted on 6-26-08, I talk about watching him play in the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines and how it applies to your life.

That led to this comment when the article posted on another site:

I wonder…how did Tiger develop such a mindset? Was he born with it or was it something he actively decided to develop it little by little?

I have been trying to work on becoming stronger myself, but there are patches where it’s hard to keep it all together. I love coming back to the exercise where you put someone who has achieved your goal into your own body. Put a major marathon runner’s consciousness into an obese man’s body and see what steps he will take to get back into shape.

What if Tiger Woods consciousness entered your body? What kind of things could you accomplish? Worth a shot.

So having read that my response is

1. Tiger developed his mindset at an early age through the teachings of both of his parents. Then he expanded on that foundation.

2. There’s more to success than having a successful person’s consciousness enter your mindset. That is a good catalyst, but there is no substitute for your own personal “why”.

3. The “why” you achieve the success that you do in the way you do it is completely personalized if it’s coming from being in alignment with your soul rather than driven by materialistic goals.

4. At the core is knowing who you truly are and why you are here.

Which brings me back to Tiger Woods as public example #1. If you’re looking for a role model and you’re not familiar with Tiger, other than sound bites, do some reading.

Then watch him play and you’ll see what it looks like when someone lives their passion from a point of focus and clarity unrivaled by anyone else on the course.

3 Simple Steps to Success

People often ask me how to keep looking forward and maintain a great feeling about their dream and not be distracted by where they are now.

Three simple steps in this question are the key to your success in anything you do.

If you don’t have the clarity of a laser focused dream followed up by a solid step by step process that allows you to focus on exactly how you’re going to make it a reality, it will most likely never happen.

So let’s break it down.

Yes, you have to keep looking forward. What that means is stop living in the past. Stop judging today’s performance and today’s abilities by what you did in the past.

If you are a life long learner, you are not the same person you were yesterday or a week ago because every day you are learning and growing. So what you were capable of last week or last month should have no bearing on what you are capable of today.

That’s assuming that you did something to increase your understanding of whatever held you back before.

If you are one of those people that thinks you can keep doing what you’ve always done and that somehow you miraculously will figure out how to get a better result, it isn’t going to happen.

Which brings us to the second part of the question; maintaining a great feeling about your dream.

This is accomplished by taking personal responsibility. Despite what you may believe about the law of attraction, there’s action that is required on your part for manifestation to occur.

To feel great about anything you have to have a feeling inside yourself that you’ve done everything you can to increase the probability of the result you desire.

That means you’ve learned from what didn’t work last time. You’ve recognized where you need help and you’ve gone out to get it. Whether that means reading a book, going through a course, getting personal mentoring or attending a live event.

Now you know you are equipped to the best of your ability to confidently move forward toward your dream knowing you’re doing everything you can on your side to make it a reality.

The third part, not be distracted by where you are now, is easy!

If you’ve done everything in the first two parts you will be so focused on what you need to do next to get where you’re going that you won’t have time to be distracted. You’ll be too busy following your blueprint and taking the next step and then the next one after that.

So use this as a checklist and if you find yourself distracted, go back to steps one and two and look at what you’re not doing today to get you where you want to be tomorrow.

Is It Time For You To Get What You Want?

As I travel around to different events and speak to clients and colleagues alike, there are some core questions that keep coming up.

And it boils down to two things.

For those who are already at the top of their profession or well on their way, there seems to be a lot of unrest around how their success looks. They’re feeling an emptiness and a sense of being unfulfilled by the success they thought would be the key to their happiness.

One woman I talked to about this said she doesn’t want to talk openly about these feelings because it will make her look ungrateful for all the financial success she’s achieved.  And yet, that alone isn’t enough to make her happy.

She bought a bigger house, new car, she’s taken more trips and thrown more parties.  And still at the end of the day, she wonders if there shouldn’t be something more? She also wonders if she’s done something wrong that she missed the key to her happiness.

For those on the other side of the fence, on their way to building a business, there’s a huge sense of overwhelm and too many disconnected tasks with no idea where all of them are really going or how it all fits together to become a successful business and a happy life.

I talked to someone this weekend that’s in this place. She’s totally overwhelmed and has so many home study programs there just aren’t enough hours in the week to go through all of them. She’s beginning to wonder if what she’s looking for is in one of those programs and she just hasn’t gotten to that piece yet or if she has to go through all of them and figure out how they work together.

I’ve certainly been there! Have you?

That place of overwhelm is probably something you’ve felt at different stages of your business.  It may even be a place you frequently find yourself in when it comes to your personal life as well.

The worst part is, these are the same issues I’ve been hearing since the day I started in this business!

Then another friend of mine mentioned something that Stephen Covey says about making sure when you climb the ladder of success that the ladder is up against the right wall!

Well, that’s a whole different story.  But it reminds me of why I created my very first teleseminar series way back when.  I did a 6 week course called, “How to Create a Vision for Your Life”. It came after a conversation I had with a really successful speaker who asked me how he would know for sure if what he was doing was really his life purpose-his passion.

I was totally taken aback.  He looked like he had everything going for him in the way of outward success, and yet he was confused and unsure of his path.  He didn’t really have any excitement around what he was doing anymore, he was just making money.  And he was bored.

I couldn’t get that conversation out of my head, and I thought about all the people who were overwhelmed and the others that have the feeling of emptiness after getting to the top. And I  realized they were all dealing with the same issues.  They were just showing up as different symptoms based on where they were in their lives.

So, if you find yourself in any of these situations, it’s not your fault. You may think you are doing everything right, but if you don’t have the correct system to follow, you will never end up where you want to go. At best you’ll climb all the way to the top of your ladder and find out you put it up against the wrong building to start with!

Every day I see people buying one more tactic, the next magic bullet. They don’t work if you don’t have a clear end to end system that you are applying them in. You can spend all your time learning new pieces, but if don’t have a vision of the whole puzzle, you don’t know where they go.

And you can do all the law of attraction stuff until the cows come home but if you don’t have clarity around it, it won’t manifest.

Clarity is the key. Knowing who you are and what you want your life to look puts you in a position where you can create a business thats sole purpose is to facilitate your lifestyle and contribute to your happiness. And I’m talking about soul fulfillment-not just having a fun day.

Your business is a tool to be used to bring you peace and fulfillment.  It shouldn’t be anchor around your neck that dictates how you spend your time.

Is it time for you to start looking at your business from a different perspective? For 99% of the people reading this, I would say yes. You see if it’s true for you.

I feel for you because I know it’s not easy without the right person showing you the way. I wandered around for a long time myself, looking for the right kind of help.

When it comes to discovering your passion, there are books and courses and workshops you can go to. From there you may be able to figure out what your life purpose is.  But as you start to get to the part about turning that into a business, there are few people who can do it well without a coach or mentor.

And when it comes to really creating a blueprint for the life of your dreams that is a step-by-step plan of how you can make it a reality, you need help.  I know this because if it’s what you really want and you don’t live like that now, it’s because you don’t know how to get there.

And that is what I do so easily, I see it so clearly when I talk to people. All it takes is for you to believe that it’s possible for someone who knows how to do it to help you. That little opening for something new to show up and asking for help can totally transform your life.

Let’s have a conversation-by blog (you can post anonymously). I can’t answer all your individual emails, but I’m here to help, so let me know what you want to talk about in your blog comments.

We can keep this conversation going over the next week as I get ready to spend the holidays on Maui. I’m living the life of my dreams and I want to help you do the same.

Until next week, I’d love to hear your thoughts.  Just comment on this post on my blog.

Thanksgiving: The Gift of Giving and Receiving

Yesterday as I was walking on the beach I thought about all the things I’m grateful in my life in preparation for today being Thanksgiving. I don’t know about you, but I do this on a daily basis in my journal. It’s something that keeps me grounded and focused on what’s good in my life.

Giving thanks relies on your ability to give and receive and acknowledge what others have contributed to your life as well as what you have created for yourself and how you contribute to others.

Your ability to give is the reflection, acknowledgment and appreciation of what you have received.

There are many ways you can give love by giving thanks:

* You can teach what you’ve learned

* You can give your time

* You can give your attention

* You can give your ideas

* You can give your money to a cause you believe in

When I look at the totality of my life, I’ve had a pretty great life that I’m very grateful for. At the same time, nobody’s life is a straight line to the top.  There are times when you hit bottom and there are times when you really depend on the support of your friends who love you.

I’m no history teacher, but I can tell you that all those years ago when the pilgrims came to this country, it was no day at the beach. They had a lot to deal with just to stay alive and make a new home for themselves.

And yet at that one point in time they came together to give thanks. And when I look at the struggles many people are going through right now, I know that no matter what your personal situation we can all find things we are grateful for today.

For me, the last 18 months have been quite a roller coaster with the end of a 17 year marriage and the ripple effect that created in every other area of my life and yet those months have also been filled with joy and some of the happiest times.

I have so many things I’m grateful for that may not have showed up if not for those difficult situations. For one thing, I developed much deeper relationships with my friends and found some new friends. I’ve allowed myself to be much more open and honest and vulnerable in my life and I’m very grateful for the wonderful gifts I’ve experienced because I’ve opened my heart in that way.

Over the years, especially since writing, “Change One Thing, Change Your Life”, I’ve discovered that most people either have a difficult time with giving or receiving.

Today, take a look at which is easier for you to do.  If you can give all day long but find it difficult to allow someone to do something for you, give that pleasure to someone who loves you today and let them experience how wonderful it feels to give.

If you’re one of those people who is good about receiving, but maybe you’ve convinced yourself you don’t have anything worth giving, just try giving a little bit to someone you love today and see what happens.  How about saying something nice and watching how that makes the other person light up.  That’s your gift.

This is a day for stepping out of your normal comfort zone and really experiencing what Thanksgiving is all about.  I promise you’ll feel better at the end of the day for doing it.

Until next week, I’d love to hear your thoughts.  Just comment on this post on my blog.      http://www.YourBreakthroughToSuccess.com/blog

How to Know When to Go for a Big Publisher or Self-Publish

Last week I had an inquiry from a new client who currently has a self-published book and small product line. She feels like it’s time to re-publish her book and wanted to talk about whether she should continue with self-publishing or move to a bigger publisher.

Since it seems like more and more of my subscribers are either authors, in the process of writing a book or thinking about writing one, I thought this would be a good place to talk about this for everyone’s benefit.

Many of my clients fit in one of the categories above and they come to me to help them create a blueprint for their life (first of all so they know what they want their life to look like) and then design how they will incorporate some type of
information products into the mix to at least partially put their business on autopilot so they can enjoy their life and have the money to do so.

When we look at the role being an author plays in this mix it has many different possibilities.

  • First it could be that you are using your book as a lead generator for your current or future business activities.
  • It could be the launching platform for a new direction in your business.
  • Or you want to increase your visibility in your industry and achieve celebrity status.
  • Or you just want to get on Oprah!

Whatever it is there are times when self-publishing is perfectly fine. there are other situations where it makes sense to get a big publisher to take your book.

There is another option, entrepreneurial publishing, which combines the best of both worlds in the way that only entrepreneurs could structure a win/win publishing deal. This is not an article to promote you working with me as your publisher, so if you want more details on how this works, contact me.

There are several useful questions for you to consider when making this decision that I had never put in this form before until the subject came up with my client.

So here’s what I gave her to decide:

  • What did the self-publishing do for your business?
  • What was the purpose of writing the book?
  • Did your book deliver on that for you?
  • How did it grow you list, get you new clients?
  • Why are you deciding to re-publish now?
  • What do you want to do differently?
  • Why were you thinking that a big publisher might be a good thing to do now?
  • What are you looking to have happen that you think a big publisher could accomplish for you?

Whether you are a first time author or an author who has published many books both ways, I think these questions should be answered before you decide which way to go with an future books.

Once you know what your intended outcome is, it’s much easier for us to have a discussion on the benefits of one type of publishing or another in your particular situation.

If you read the Blueprints for Manifesting Your Life article series in September, you’ll remember that one recurring theme that showed up in every article was that there are no hard rules in your life or your business. Everything should always be looked at on a case by case basis and also in terms of you as an individual.

In other words, don’t just do what you see someone else doing and assume if it’s good enough for them it will work out well for you. Let’s figure out what works best for you together.

I’d be happy to answer any question you have on this topic on my blog rather than emailing me individually–and yes you can use a fake name on the blog and nobody sees your email address if you want to protect your privacy.

Until next week, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Just comment on this post on my blog. http://www.YourBreakthroughToSuccess.com/blog

How to Really Live Life on Your Terms

Do you love the life you’re living right now?

Do you love it so much that if later today you suddenly found out that you have more money than you and everyone you care about could spend in 3 lifetimes, would you still be living the way you are right now?

I’m assuming when you answered that question there was at least something minor you’d change even if you’re pretty much already living the life of your dreams. What are those things and what would it really take to shift those right now? If you believe it’s not possible, why not?

I’ll bet you anything that with some strategic coaching, you’d shift that belief in no time. I know this because I’ve seen so many of my clients do just that.

So what if you have some major parts of your life that are not what you would choose?

Major things may be the easier things to shift, so that should be good news for you. The little things that appear to be non-negotiable right now are usually the places you are blocked.

If you’ve ever taken one of my classes or seen me speak you’re probably familiar with the simple 5 point personal inventory my clients do on a quarterly basis-some more often depending on how quickly their life is unfolding.

Your Personal Inventory:

  1. Why are you in the relationships you’re in?
  2. Why do you do the work you do?
  3. Why do you work at the particular place/company you work?
  4. Why do you spend your free time the way you do?
  5. Why do you live where you live?

I could do a two hour class just on what comes out of answering those 5 questions! But there are two main things to keep in mind:

#1 The answer is not, “I don’t know, that’s just the way it is.”
#2 Now that you’ve looked at those 5 areas of your life you have a choice.

So let’s look at that choice. How do I live a life that is so different than the majority of people? I planned it that way. I started consciously creating my life right out of school.

The way I live has nothing to do with how much money I have. It is strictly a choice.

In the 30 plus years I’ve been designing my life I have been married and I’ve been single. I’ve moved to more places than I can count, most of them top vacation spots that other people only spend a week or two in. And I’ve made lots of money and I’ve also been broke-more than once.

The common thread is that a long time ago, as a teenager, I made a choice to live my life on my terms. I decided what that looked like for me and I’ve never waivered on that being my top priority. It really is that simple.

Besides doing the personal inventory, if you are a subscriber to my ezine, then you received a special report called, “What Do You Stand For; A No B.S. Guide to Creating Your Own Personal Manifesto”. I would suggest you find it and do it this weekend. That will give you a huge amount of clarity if you take it seriously and really create your statements from a thoughtful place.

I keep my schedule very flexible becasue I like fluidity in my life. I have a spiritual practice or morning ritual, if you want to call it that, that takes up the first 3 hours of my day. As I increased the things I do during that time I told myself I wanted to wake up earlier to do it and I have. I haven’t used an alarm in over 10 years.

It’s all a choice, but what’s different about these choices and the reason they work to make amazing shifts in your life with little or no effort on your part is how they are made. You are designing your life knowing your priorities and the ‘why’ behind every single choice in a way that you have most likely never thoguth about before.

So start with those two actions steps, the personal inventory and the personal manifesto and let me know what happens for you-on my blog, please!!!

Until next week, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Just comment on this post on my blog. http://www.YourBreakthroughToSuccess.com/blog

The Day Breast Cancer Changed My Life: Part 2-The Cure

In last week’s article on the breast cancer diagnosis I talked about being diagnosed and how it made me feel and my response to it. I also mentioned how it impacted my life from that point on.

I have resisted talking publicly about this for many years because I didn’t want to offend anyone who took another path or would interpret the type of things I’m talking about here as me saying “it’s all your fault”.

Which I’d like to say right now, it isn’t.  You can only deal with what shows up in your life based on the knowledge that you have at that particular moment.  Once you have more knowledge you can make a different choice.

Now I want to share a little deeper with you the part concerning the cure. These are my personal beliefs that I believe are what led to me being cured so quickly along with some of the action steps I took. Excuse me if I keep reminding you that these are my beliefs which you may or may not embrace, but I want to make that perfectly clear.

There’s two types of healing that I believe must take place to have a long lasting cure:

1.When you focus on healing the emotional body the physical body will repair itself.

2. Focusing on the therapies to take care of the physical manifestation of disease alone will only be a temporary fix for many people.

I’m sure you’ve heard of people who have a relapse or another type of cancer or some other life threatening disease within a few years of the first diagnosis. I see this as an opportunity to look deeper into your soul and have a very personal conversation with yourself.

I made a decision the day I was diagnosed that I never wanted to have another experience anything close to this in my life again. With my belief that disease is really just a dis-ease with something in your life that is out of alignment with the truth of who you really are, I went to work on myself.

For people who experience long term success with a cure, there is something much deeper which occurs inside of them. It could be a conscious decision to do some work, like it was for me, or it could be a realization that comes on a subconscious level that you may not even be aware of, but I believe everyone goes through this transformation if they are truly cured.

And if you ask me what ‘truly cured’ means to me, I’d say it’s the difference between the comfort level someone has in saying that they are ‘cancer free’ or in saying that they are cured. Because once agian, the cure, to a large extent is the reflection of your belief system. This is not a discussion of medical opinions.

And I know that if you read last week’s article you’ll see that I used the term ‘cancer free’.

Here’s the difference; I wrote that article back in April and a lot has changed in my life to the point where I’m being more honest and straightforward in how I share  without so much worrying about being politically correct. And I have to tell you it’s very freeing-and I believe much healthier.

My belief system is that on a soul level I have made a commitment to listen to the signals from the Universe when it tells me to slow down or take a break or make a shift in my business or my lifestyle or relationships.

I also have a belief that my physical body is a daily reflection of my emotional state and an indication of alignment or misalignment with my soul. So for me, noticing that my face is breaking out gets introspection on what’s going on with me so I don’t stuff emotions to the point of something much more major happening.

When I was diagnosed, the first thing I did was go home to my library and pull out my books on mind/body connection and health.

The first book I looked at that I thought might tell me how to cure myself said that people have cured themselves from cancer with great success, but not really breast cancer. So on to another book. I looked through everything I had and took bits and pieces I thought would be helpful.

I went for a second opinion and once again rejected the choice of surgery. Living in a small town in a thrid world country, my friends thought I should be on the first plane out. That was the first sign to most people that I was crazy.

I chose a different path.  I called a friend who is an irridoligist (forgive me if I didn’t spell it right).  I told her I was going to give myself a month to do this myself and while I was on vacation in the states I would see a doctor again to see how I did.

So just in case I still needed to have surgery, I wanted to change my diet to be in the best place possible by eliminating any foods that could grow breast cancer and eating things that would prepare me for surgery.  That included her prescribing a lot of supplments I had never taken before and don’t remember, and sadly excluded me drinking wine. Which I thought could have been very beneficial about that time.

I think my whole approach goes back to what my beliefs were at the moment I was diagnosed. As I said in part one, it was surreal to say the least, but the most important point was that I was pretty sure this was an awakening, not a death sentence. There was something big that had been building inside me for quite a while.

I knew there was a shift coming. And now it was up to me to move beyond this challenge as quickly and easily as possible.  So that was my mind set.

I quit my very easy, high paying job. That was the second sign I was probably crazy, as the news spread through town. All of a sudden I realized I had more friends and friend of friends that were healers than I had any idea about.

Along with changing my diet I had acupuncture, took Chinese herbs, had a Native American healing ceremony, did hypnotherapy, massage,  meditation, recorded health affirmations on a cassette that I listened to while I did yoga, and drank different concoctions of vegetable juices on different days.

After two weeks of this I decied that I should be at least 50% cured since I had given myself a month, so I made an appointment to go have an ultrasound.  I wanted to see how I was doing.  I didn’t tell anyone I was going.

It was the first time that I got a little worried, because it looked exactly the same as it did on the mammogram and original ultrasound-no change!

Instead of getting depressed I told myself that my timetable was not God’s and that I still had two weeks.  I was pretty sure God was on board for that part of the plan.

So long story short, when I went to see this cutting edge oncologist in the U.S. I was feeling pretty good. Really, I was feeling the best I ever remembered feeling. None of the small daily stuff bothered me at all any more, my body was very clean from the new health routine, and by quitting my job I was pretty much stress free.

After they did more than one mammogram I got a little nervous, but when I saw the picture on the ultrasound I couldn’t believe my eyes. All that was left was an empty shell.  That’s why they had taken more photos with the mammogram.

It was gone!

What worked?  Who knows?  All of it? One thing?  Who cares?

And I knew I had picked the right doctor when I told him all the things I had been doing and gave him this long list of the supplements I had been taking and he didn’t think I was crazy.

There is another huge part of the synchronicity that led me to be in the city where this doctor was and how I was led to him, but that’s another story.

Everything happened exactly as it was supposed to to get me to the transition in my life that breast cancer was the catalyst for.

Would I have preferred to have gotten the message in a gentler way? Yes.

Would I give up any of the gifts I still have in my life today because of having cancer? Never.

In fact I’m grateful for the expereince and I hope to never have another one like it again.

In part three I’ll share with you what those gifts were and how I came to recognize them.

Because as I mentioned in part one, when this happened 9 years ago it meant ending a 25 year career, leaving the place I thought I was going to stay forever and moving to a city in the desert when I’m an ocean resort person.

But I went on faith where I felt directed to go. And this life that I have now being able to communicate like this with you and helping thousands of others to change their lives came out of that moment when I walked out of the doctors office and chose a different path.

So what’s the choice you need to make in your life?

Are you paying attention to what the Universe is telling you?

Until next week, I’d love to hear your thoughts.  Just comment on this post on my blog.      http://www.YourBreakthroughToSuccess.com/blog

The Day Breast Cancer Changed My Life

I don’t quite know where to begin this one, especially to keep it short enough that you’ll read it. And I think this is important to read.

So here we go:

It was a day much like today, warm and sunny. Just another beautiful day like all the others in Cabo San Lucas. I’d been living there for almost 6 years and today I was going for my first mammogram.

Because I thought it would be no big deal, hey I was only 43, I decided to go to a local doctor rather than my regular one two and a half hours away.

Well, it did turn out to be a big deal as I was diagnosed with breast cancer. But as I quickly realized I didn’t react in the way that the majority of women I’ve known in the same situation have.

I didn’t cry, I panicked just a little bit, mostly about how I was going to break the news to my husband.

But for me, the moment that’s burned into my mind isn’t the one where they said those dreaded words, it’s the one where I came out into the light of day into a completely different world than I had left a little over an hour before.

It was surreal to say the least, but the most important point that I wanted to clearly get across to my husband was that I was pretty sure this was an awakening, not a death sentence. There was something big that had been building inside me for quite a while.

I knew there was a shift coming. A spiritual friend of mine told me months before that she saw a big test coming for me. I figured this must be it and I was going to do whatever I needed to do to get the message I was being sent and do what I was to do as quickly as possible.

How I become cancer free in a short period of time without surgery is a whole other story. But what made me think of this experience on this particular morning was that I have that feeling again.

I have that feeling of being on the brink of a major shift in my life. For some people who don’t embrace change, it’s terrifying. For me it’s electrifying.

When this happened 9 years ago it meant ending a 25 year career, leaving the place I thought I was going to stay forever and moving to a city in the desert when I’m an ocean resort person.

But I went on faith where I felt directed to go. And this life that I have now being able to communicate like this with you and helping thousands of others to change their lives came out of that moment when I walked out of the doctors office and chose a different path.

It makes me want to cry just thinking of the magnificence of how life unfolds in ways that are wonderful and yet unpredictable.

That shifted every part of my life. And it was all good. No I didn’t have a clue what I was going to be doing for a living. I didn’t have any idea what any part of my life was going to look like, and thank God I had a husband at the time that trusted my intuition and didn’t fight me on this ambiguous picture.

And now it’s happening again. Not the cancer, the feeling. So watch over the next few weeks, because I’m sure I’ll be sharing things with you as they show up. I’m excited to see where my life will go.

But today, I really want you to look at your life and ask yourself if there’s something that could shift for you that potentially could make a huge positive difference, but you’re too afraid to take the chance. And why?

You have to take the leap of faith because if you wait to see for sure, most likely the opportunity will have already gone to someone who wasn’t afraid to act.

I would love to have you share your opinions and personal insights on my blog where I’ll also post this article.

What’s New

Quote to Contemplate
“If you were as creative in your business as you are with your excuses, you’d be very successful already.”

That statement will sting if it’s true for you. If it’s not you, you probably know someone you’d like to forward it to. Where is your creativity focused, growing your business or making excuses?
