Are You Leaping to the Top?

Have you ever noticed that the issues you’ve been dealing with in your personal life are also the same issues that come up in business? Funny how that works!

The thing that struck me about this week’s quote is that it addresses an issue that keeps showing up in many people’s lives. I’ve heard it in several coaching sessions I’ve done in the last few weeks.

When you attempt to reach the top in a single leap it produces misery on two levels.

First, are you jumping over all the small things that are bumps in the road of life you would rather ignore than deal with? Are you under the belief that you only have to deal with the big obstacles that actually block your path?

I hope not, because if you are, instead of dealing with little inconveniences when they come up you could find yourself dealing with big challenges, like life threatening illnesses or bankruptcy. Remember, you always have a choice to pay attention to the signals you are receiving when they are small bumps in the road rather than waiting until the become boulders blocking your path.

Do you think you are being expedient to jump over all those little things by telling yourself that you have no fears?

Do you charge on despite those queasy feelings in your stomach?

Those feelings need to be listened to. They are telling you there is something making you uncomfortable about what you are doing. Stop and ask yourself why. Really look at it. Don’t just push through and do it anyway.

Ignoring the warning signals your body and your mind are giving you only leads to disaster. You can’t ignore the signals without them getting bigger and bigger until they are so big you have no choice but to deal with them.

I’m not telling you to stay in your fears. Of course you aren’t going to do that, but you are going to give them a fair and rational hearing. Then you can make an informed decision on what you want to do next rather than plowing through with your head buried in the sand or the clouds.

Secondly, ask yourself if you are trying to leap all the way to the top because you are a perfectionist?

What does that have to do with this?

When you think everything you do has to be perfect you don’t allow yourself to take the steps of being a work in progress.

Are you waiting to get started on something because you want to have all the pieces put together so you can do it all at once?

  • Are you waiting to have a new website for your business until you can do it right?
  • Are you waiting to write your book until you know exactly what is going to be in it?
  • Are you waiting to start your own business because you don’t know everything you need to know?
  • Are you waiting for the perfect time when you can just roll everything out in a perfect form like it has been that way all along?

These are all symptoms of perfectionism. I understand, you don’t want anyone to think you don’t know what you are doing. Being a work in progress takes a lot of self-confidence because it’s a very vulnerable place to be.

At the same time, if you try to do things in a single leap, misery is almost guaranteed. So, I am suggesting to you that you start whatever it is you have been postponing until you have all your ducks in a row. Put it out there, get feedback, work it and re-work it.

In the last 6 years my life has been quite a journey. I started out with an idea to write a book about women’s prosperity, which still hasn’t been written. That project took a turn and became “Change One Thing, Change your Life”. Things have taken many twists and turns since then between the personal and business development products and boot camps and summits I’ve created.

As far as I’m concerned they are completely intertwined. You can’t have true and lasting success in one area of your life without also being healthy and your version of balanced in the other.

I’ve made a lot of changes in my websites, my title, the different ways I provide services to you and the expanded focus of my business. I can assure you I will continue to evolve before your eyes. I am committed to bring you opportunities and other experts to help you do the same.

More and more great opportunities I want to share with you are coming to me all the time. I do my best to screen them and only send you the best of what I have access to. I see it as an obligation to keep you informed of any product or seminar that could improve your life and put money in your pocket.

If you would like personal mentoring, send me an email detailing what you would like help with. As your mentor I hold a bigger vision for you than you hold for yourself. When you have faith and a team that believes in you, it gives you courage. When you don’t have to do it all yourself, all things are possible for you. Commit today to go for your dream 100%.
