What’s New
This week’s article answers a listener’s question from our Blueprints for Life preview teleseminar that I didn’t have time to answer live on the call.

Speaking of that, if you haven’t registered for tonight’s Blueprints for Life teleseminar go to:

I’m back from Christmas on Maui and New Year’s in Scottsdale. After 3 weeks away from the office it was a little difficult to get back into the groove yesterday.  I’m feeling completely refreshed and energized and ready for a great year. I’m really excited about all the new parts of my business you’ll be hearing about shortly-all designed to serve you better!

I wish I could say that 2008 was a great year for me, but to be blunt, it sucked and I’m glad it’s over. There were some hard choices that had to be made and I made them. In between the sucky parts I did have a lot of fun, so no tears for me.

I faced some pretty big personal transitions last year, including divorce and the major financial implications that come with it. The real estate market was not kind to me and neither were my investments. But the lessons I learned have given me a great head start on having a totally kick-ass year in 2009.

How about you? I know for a lot of you after reading your questions, it wasn’t a great year. For some it was the best ever. I have very few bad days, much less years, so I can’t complain.

Now we all get to start over!

The way I look at it, life is like one big etcha-sketch (if that’s how you spell it). When an experience is over you just turn the knob and everything you see disappears and you can draw a brand new picture of whatever makes you
happy. And life goes on to be whatever you choose.

On tonight’s teleseminar I’ll be sharing my personal blueprint for life that I’ve used to consciously create my life for the last 30 years. If you want to find out how I dealt with all the stuff in my life last year and came out the other side, you’ll hear my personal philosophy tonight.

How to Find True Meaning in What You Do

I received this question from a listener on my last Blueprints for Life teleseminar.

“I want to find true meaning in what I’m doing, not just doing it because it’s easy for me to do to make money. And I don’t want to compromise but rather enhance my lifestyle along the way.”

Is that what you want too?

It’s possible that there are a small percentage of my subscribers that are all about the money. But the majority of you are looking for the same meaningful, lifestyle enhancing work that this person is. That’s why you are one of my subscribers.

Don’t worry, you can still make the big bucks, and have your life be everything you want it to be. Personally, the number one priority of my business is to fulfill my soul. That’s right, it’s about me and not about you.

Surprised?

Haven’t you always been told that to be successful you have to be focused on what your clients want, not what you want?

That’s true once you already know what it is that makes you happy.

Before you can be concerned about how you will fulfill the desires of your clients, you get to pick who they will be and how you will best serve them by deciding what makes you happy!

And that’s the place most people get stuck. You can’t answer what makes you happy, at least not in clear, laser focused terms. And that’s where the problem starts.

When I was in high school I told my guidance counselor I wanted to be a Realtor. He almost laughed me out of the office. Where I grew up people didn’t think it was necessary for girls to go to college. So if I couldn’t be a Realtor, because an authority figure told me I couldn’t, I had no idea what I wanted to do.  I had several jobs just to pay the bills. Some could have been a career and some clearly not.

But it didn’t matter, because the whole time I was just waiting to be old enough to be a Realtor, although nobody clued me in to what age I would qualify.

So while some people spin around in circles doing meaningless but well paying works for years or even a lifetime, it was 4 years for me. I became a Realtor at 22-still very young.

Thank God I knew what I wanted to do, but the reason I did was because I paid attention to what was going on in my life and what worked and what didn’t. I learned to ask myself some very important questions that gave me the answers I needed.

Those same questions will open the door to the answers you’re looking for.

Another things I’ve learned over the years I’ve helped people create a blueprint for their lives is that most people have never even considered that they can consciously choose what they do for a living, where they live, how they spend
their time and with whom.

Over my 25 year career in sales, as a sales manager and sales trainer, I believed it was important for my salespeople to make those lifestyle choices if they were going to be truly happy and successful.

Even for career salespeople money loses it’s power to motivate if you don’t know what you want the money to do for you.  There has to be a bigger goal. You have to have a clear vision for your life to sustain success long term.

You have a choice in every area of your life. The biggest choice you make every day is whether you will take action to make a different choice than the one you’ve been making on a daily basis.

Questions are the answer to everything in life, it’s all about asking yourself the right questions to get access to the information you want to know. All the answers are already inside of you. You just need some help getting the answers. You need a new way of accessing that information.

Very few people can do this to a high level on their own. I can help you.

Until next week, I’d love to hear your thoughts.  Just comment on this post on my blog.
