Island Prime in San Diego
Rex & Lynn at Island Prime in San Diego

Yesterday afternoon I drove down to San Diego to hang out with one of my favorite people Rex Wisehart at Island Prime Restaurant in San Diego. Rex missed out on a big snow storm yesterday at home in Colorado so he’s happy to be in San Diego.

Rex spent years as a top gun corporate turn around guy and now, besides being a business credit expert, he’s the money behind a lot of big people in my industry.  We met at Frank Kern’s Mass Control. Live events are how I’ve met most of my friends over the years. Attending events is always a great networking opportunity and the better the event, the better the networking.

If you would have attended http://WomensBusinessEmpowermentSummit.com last year you would have met Rex, he was one of our faculty members. If you run over to the site right now you can still download a great interview I did with him on how to get creidt for your business.

What a difference a few months makes

Here are 2 photos, 1 taken on my drive from San Diego to Scottsdale before my Christmas trip to Maui through a blizzard and now 2 weeks ago with spring flowers lining the road most of the way! I make this trip almost every month since I always seem to be moving things back and forth. Not a good idea to take pictures while driving with your phone.

Is what you time doing different than what you thought was important to you?

What’s New
There’s been a lot of travel in my life this year. Since I came home from Maui on January 7th, I’ve been back to Maui for another week in February, made 2 more trips to Scottsdale, Laguna Beach, almost a week in hotels in San Diego and now I’m back in Scottsdale before going to Los Angeles.

I didn’t realize exactly how few days I’d been home this year, less than 10, until I sat down and looked for a task on my calendar. My whole life is on my calendar and I use it as a tool for many things. So this week’s article is about how to learn how to end over-commitment now.

If you missed the email that went out last Wednesday about “Women, Wine, Wealth and Wisdom” it generated a lot of interest and I’ve been interviewing potential members to select the group of exciting fun loving women who will be joining me in this program.

I’m almost through all of last week’s applicants so look for another email today or tomorrow if you’d like a shot at being part of this group. Registrations will be closing shortly.

Life happens, be ready for it.

Set your goals high enough that they require you to stretch your comfort zone and you’ll be amazed what you can achieve. Ask yourself, “What’s the one thing I can change this year to create the life of my dreams?”

Do you know why you’re going there?

What’s New

I have a little bit of a rant for you now.

I’ve noticed that lately there seems to be people popping up from all different areas of expertise claiming to have a great sales system. Well, from what I’ve seen most of them don’t know what they’re talking about. This is really upsetting to me because it’s such an important foundation of your business and I hate to see you mislead into using a faulty or dysfunctional system.

Some of these ‘experts’ have no real experience as a salesperson at all, while others have a brief sales background and are just repeating the basic sales training they received on the job. And sadly, some of them are trying to make a fast buck thinking that’s what you need to make it in this economy-and that part’s true, you do need help with this.

But make sure if you’re going to get a sales program that you get it from someone who truly has the track record of being in the trenches of sales, management and sales training over the long haul.

For example, I spent 25 years in sales as a full time career and have trained everyone from veteran sales people to people who have never sold anything and don’t want to look or feel like a salesperson now.

There’s an art and a finesse to sales, and if done properly, a great sales and communication system can turn this part of your business into a very enjoyable, relaxed and profitable process.

Now that I think about it, I have more to say on this so I think I’ll do something special for you next week. Look for an email from me about Getting to Yes Without Selling the first part of the week because I think we need to talk about conscious selling.

Today’s article is on publishing and how you choose which style of publishing works best for you.  As a disclaimer I do have my own imprint, Genesis Publishing, with Morgan James Publishing.

We are still having beautiful summer like weather here in San Diego. It’s going to be around 80 so my beach walks are very enjoyable right before sunset. I walk for an hour. Last night I went from sunshine to sunset and the orange sky.  Then as I walked up the steps from the beach I saw a beautiful full moon that appeared to be hanging right over my house.

My dogs have adjusted well too, although they really don’t appreciate the beach.  Spike is sitting on my lap now as I’m typing.

What’s NewI am getting so much done this summer. How about you?

I’m doing a ton of interviews about Women’s Business Empowerment Summit, my book, “Breakthrough to Success” and how to turn your passion into cash-my favorite topic.

I hope you’re listening to the free training calls for WBES because our faculty members are delivering some amazing content! You haven’t missed anything because the calls are all available on replay.

When you go to register for the calls, on the next page you can grab your seat for the summit in August. Not only do we have a great hotel rate of $99, but there are hot deals on airfares all over the place.

In fact, for those who are smart enough to not buy into the media hype of doom & gloom, you can get some of the best travel bargains I’ve seen in years!

Register at: http://WomensBusinessEmpowermentSummit.com

If I wasn’t in the middle of preparing for the summit, I think I’d be spending the entire summer traveling. I booked my airfare for a trip to San Diego in a couple weeks to hang out with Mike Koenigs and Frank Kern and got a better deal than I did in March & April.

This week I’ve written the article I promised you last week on Tiger Woods. I find inspiration in how other people live their lives so whether it’s last week’s article on Tim Russert (which you can access on my blog) or this week’s article on Tiger, let me know if you enjoy these type of articles.
